Participation in Budapest Artineris implies the full acceptance of these regulations.

Budapest Artineris is a citywide event dedicated to contemporary art, organised by Menexa Srl, with registered office at Via della Barchetta, 13 – 00186 Rome, Italy.

The event takes place periodically in Budapest on the dates communicated through the official website and the project’s communication channels.

Budapest Artineris is an initiative connected to the international Artineris network and inspired by the experience developed through Rome Art Week. The project is not limited to the organisation of an art week: it creates a permanent platform for mapping, connecting and promoting the city’s artistic scene.

1. Purpose of the project

Budapest Artineris aims to promote contemporary art through a citywide network of artists, curators, galleries, foundations, associations, institutions, academies, studios and cultural spaces.

The event aims to encourage:

greater awareness of Budapest’s artistic scene;
direct encounters between the public and cultural professionals;
the promotion of artists and independent projects;
the creation of connections between organisations and individuals active in the city;
the development of free and accessible events;
the creation of a permanent map of the city’s artistic community.

Participation provides access to a personal profile with a permanent URL, which may be independently updated even after the conclusion of each edition.

2. Participation categories

Each applicant may submit a request for participation in only one of the following categories:

Artists;
Venues and organisations;
Curators.

Participation is free of charge but subject to the evaluation of the application by the organiser.

Submission of an application does not automatically imply admission to the event. Menexa Srl reserves the right to accept or reject applications based on the quality, cultural relevance and consistency of the submitted profiles with the objectives of Budapest Artineris.

3. Artists

Artists whose research relates to contemporary art may apply, provided that their activity is documented through a biography, an artistic curriculum and a representative selection of images of their work.

To participate in a specific edition of the event, each admitted artist must take part in at least one of the following activities:

organise an open studio;
participate in an exhibition or exhibition project organised by a registered venue or organisation;
participate in a contemporary art exhibition or project organised by a registered curator;
take part in an event developed in collaboration with other participants, provided that the person or organisation responsible for the event is clearly identified.

Artists are responsible for the accuracy of the information published in their profiles, for the ownership of the presented works and for holding the related reproduction and usage rights.

4. Venues and organisations

The following may apply as venues or organisations:

museums;
galleries;
foundations;
cultural associations;
institutions;
academies;
Hungarian or international cultural institutes;
professional studios;
independent spaces;
venues permanently or temporarily dedicated to the promotion of contemporary art.

Venues and organisations must have a space accessible to the public in Budapest or organise a project clearly located within the city.

To participate in a specific edition of Budapest Artineris, each venue or organisation must organise at least one event during the period of the initiative.

Venues and organisations may collaborate with each other and organise joint events, thematic routes, guided activities or coordinated initiatives, provided that the responsible contact person, the venues involved and the event times are clearly indicated.

5. Curators

Curators may apply if their activity in the field of contemporary art is documented through a professional curriculum and information about previously completed projects.

To participate in a specific edition of Budapest Artineris, each curator must propose at least one exhibition, event or contemporary art project to be held in Budapest during the period of the initiative.

The curator assumes full responsibility for the submitted project, including:

the selection of the artists;
the identification of a suitable venue;
the organisation of the installation;
the acquisition of any necessary authorisations;
the management of the planned activities;
compliance with agreements made with artists, venues, collaborators and suppliers.

6. Application procedure

To participate in Budapest Artineris, applicants must complete the application form available on the official website:

budapest.artineris.com

The application must be submitted by the deadline communicated for the relevant edition.

Applicants must provide accurate, up-to-date and complete information and submit the materials required for the evaluation of their application.

Confirmation of the email address through the link received at the end of the procedure is required to complete the registration.

If the application is approved, the participant will receive login credentials for their personal control panel.

The login credentials are strictly personal and may not be transferred to third parties. Participants are responsible for safeguarding them and for the activities performed through their accounts.

7. Independent management of the personal profile

Budapest Artineris provides participants with a digital platform for independently managing their information.

Each admitted participant is assigned a personal profile with a permanent URL, which remains accessible even after the conclusion of the relevant edition.

Through the personal control panel, each participant may independently add, update and modify the information included in their profile.

Artists and curators

Artists and curators must provide at least:

name or professional name;
biography;
curriculum;
cover image;
images representing their activity;
contact details;
website, where available;
social media links, where available;
videos and additional materials, where available.

Venues and organisations

Venues and organisations must provide at least:

name;
description of the activity;
address;
contact details;
cover image;
representative images;
website;
social media links, where available;
opening hours and access conditions.

The organiser may remove incomplete, irrelevant, offensive, discriminatory, unlawful content or content that is incompatible with the purposes of the event.

8. Events

All events included in the official Budapest Artineris programme must:

take place during the period established for the relevant edition;
be located within the city of Budapest;
be consistent with the cultural objectives of the initiative;
be accessible to the public free of charge;
be submitted through the website by the deadline communicated by the organiser;
comply with the applicable regulations concerning safety, authorisations, copyright and the protection of participants.

Events requiring mandatory admission tickets, participation fees or any other compulsory payment are not permitted.

Events requiring prior booking are permitted, provided that the booking is free of charge and justified by the limited capacity of the venue or by the specific nature of the activity.

Events are independently organised by the participants. Menexa Srl manages the general coordination, communication, promotion and inclusion of the events in the official programme but does not act as the organiser of the individual events unless expressly stated otherwise.

The organiser reserves the right to remove from the programme any event considered unsuitable or not compliant with these regulations.

9. Types of event

Open studios

Open studios may be organised by artists.

An open studio consists of opening the artist’s studio or working space to the public in order to encourage direct interaction and provide insight into the creative process.

The activity must have a duration suitable for public attendance. It may be repeated on multiple days, provided that the times are clearly indicated in the event profile.

Exhibitions

Exhibitions may be organised by venues, organisations and curators.

The programme may include:

exhibitions specifically organised for Budapest Artineris;
exhibitions opening during the period of the initiative;
ongoing exhibitions, provided that they include at least one activity specifically organised for Budapest Artineris.

Such activities may include:

opening events;
closing events;
guided visits;
meetings with artists;
talks;
performances;
presentations;
curatorial insights.

The simple listing of an ongoing exhibition without a specific activity linked to the initiative is not sufficient for participation.

Contemporary art projects

Contemporary art projects may be organised by venues, organisations and curators.

Projects may take different forms, including:

performances;
installations;
urban interventions;
meetings;
talks;
presentations;
screenings;
multimedia projects;
interdisciplinary activities;
initiatives held in conventional or unconventional spaces.

Each project must clearly indicate the person or organisation responsible, the location, the duration and the access conditions for the public.

Tours and routes

Participants may propose tours, routes and thematic itineraries involving multiple venues or events.

Tours must be free of charge and accurately described, specifying:

the meeting point;
the times;
the approximate duration;
the planned stops;
the maximum number of participants;
whether prior booking is required;
the name of the contact person.

The inclusion of tours in the official programme is subject to the organiser’s approval.

10. Free participation

Participation in Budapest Artineris is free of charge.

Events included in the official programme must also be free of charge and accessible without any mandatory payment.

Access to events may not be made conditional upon:

the purchase of tickets;
the payment of participation fees;
the purchase of subscriptions;
the purchase of goods or services;
the payment of mandatory contributions.

Commercial activities normally related to the participants’ professional activities, such as the sale of artworks, catalogues or publications, are permitted, provided that they are not a condition for accessing the event.

11. Graphic materials and communication

Budapest Artineris provides participants with tools for independently generating graphic and promotional materials connected to their profiles and events.

Participants may use these materials to promote their participation, provided that they do not modify the logos, visual identity or official information of the initiative.

The use of the Budapest Artineris name, logo and graphic elements does not authorise participants to present themselves as representatives, spokespersons or agents of Menexa Srl.

All communication relating to individual events must clearly indicate the person or organisation responsible for their organisation.

12. Responsibilities of participants

Each participant is fully responsible for:

the information submitted through the website;
the accuracy of the published materials;
the content of the works and events presented;
compliance with intellectual property rights;
the acquisition of the necessary authorisations;
the safety of the venues used;
the management of the public;
relationships with collaborators, artists, guests and suppliers;
any damage caused to persons or property during the activities organised.

Participants declare that they hold the rights required for the publication of the images, texts, videos and other materials uploaded to the website.

If the materials include recognisable individuals, participants declare that they have obtained the necessary authorisations for publication.

13. Limitation of liability

Budapest Artineris and Menexa Srl manage the general coordination, promotion, communication and mapping of participants and events.

Menexa Srl does not directly organise the events included in the programme unless expressly stated otherwise.

Menexa Srl shall not be held responsible for:

the quality or content of the events;
any cancellations or changes;
damage to persons or property;
accidents;
failures or breaches of obligations;
disputes between participants;
violations of third-party rights;
failure to obtain the required authorisations;
inaccurate information published by participants.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, each participant agrees to indemnify and hold Menexa Srl harmless from claims, demands, penalties, costs or legal actions brought by third parties in connection with independently organised activities, published content or violations of the rights of others.

14. Changes, cancellations and updates

Participants must promptly update the information relating to their events.

In the event of a cancellation, a change in the schedule or a change of venue, the participant must update the information through the personal control panel and inform the organiser.

Menexa Srl does not guarantee the immediate updating of information in materials that have already been printed, published or distributed through third parties.

15. Exclusion from the event

Menexa Srl reserves the right to suspend or terminate the participation of applicants or participants who:

fail to comply with these regulations;
submit false or misleading information;
fail to complete their personal profile;
propose events that are not consistent with the cultural objectives of the project;
organise paid activities;
improperly use the name or logo of the event;
publish offensive, discriminatory or unlawful content;
damage the reputation of Budapest Artineris or the Artineris network;
engage in conduct that is incompatible with the inclusive and cultural purposes of the project.

Exclusion does not grant the participant any right to compensation or reimbursement.

16. Processing of personal data

Personal data collected through the website will be processed by Menexa Srl as Data Controller in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the General Data Protection Regulation, and the applicable legislation.

The information required for participation, the publication of profiles and the management of events will be processed as specified in the Privacy Policy available on the official website.
