The exhibition presents a selection from Attila Balla’s decades-long, gesture- and material-centered painting. For the artist—who studied in Sweden and Budapest, and later settled near Csongrád—painting is not primarily about representation, but a process of exploring consciousness and perception.
In his large-scale, expressive works, the forces of nature, the experience of meditation, and the unpredictable behavior of materials come together. Concrete, wax, resin, pigments, colored sand, and his own handmade paper have all become part of his unique painterly language.
This exhibition in K.A.S. Gallery, Budapest, focuses on painterly spaces that do not convey a single meaning, but instead shift the familiar boundaries of perception and reception. Balla's paintings are born at the intersection of material, gesture, nature, and inner experience.
