Várfok Gallery is expanding its exhibition programme with a new permanent display titled Wunderkammer. This distinctive selection offers visitors an opportunity to discover the works of the Gallery’s artists from a new perspective, bringing recent creations into dialogue with rarely seen pieces from earlier periods.
The exhibition occupies one hall, while the street-facing space will remain dedicated to solo exhibitions presenting the artists’ latest works and most recent creative periods.
Echoing the spirit of the earliest museums and the atmosphere of historic art salons, Wunderkammer invites visitors to wander freely among the works, explore new associations and encounter remarkable pieces that may previously have escaped their attention. One of Wunderkammer’s defining features is that it offers a rare opportunity to experience recent works alongside earlier pieces and selected works from past series, thus appear naturally side by side, freed from the constraints of a linear narrative of artistic development and offering a richer, more nuanced view of each artistic practice. This various selection invites visitors to make new discoveries and recognise previously unseen connections.
Várfok Gallery aims to make Wunderkammer not only an exhibition, but also a place for encounters, conversations and deeper engagement with art, an open and inspiring space where long-standing favourites, rarely seen works and new discoveries await visitors.
As part of the initiative, the Gallery is also launching its Artwork of the month programme. Each month, one artist and one selected work will be placed in the spotlight and given special prominence within the Wunderkammer. The featured artwork will also be presented across Várfok Gallery’s social media platforms and other communication channels. The programme seeks to bring the works and the stories behind them closer to the public while introducing the Gallery’s artists to a wider audience.
Wunderkammer opens a new chapter in the life of Várfok Gallery, creating a permanent meeting point for artworks, artists and visitors.
The exhibition is open from 3rd September, 2026 between 12:00 and 18:00 from Tuesday to Saturday.
